Beauty review roundup

The best press-on nails, in plain English

A salon look in about 15 minutes, and a great gift because there's no shade to match. We read expert tests and boiled them down: how long each one lasted, how they go on, and who they suit.

Before you buy: 3 quick checks

Three things make the difference between a week of great nails and a few days.

Glue or sticky tabs?

Nail glue holds the longest, often about a week or more, but takes longer to remove. Sticky tabs (adhesive stickers) go on faster, come off more gently and last a few days, which is perfect for a weekend or an event.

Getting the right size

Kits come with many sizes. Match each nail before you start, and if a size is in between, pick the slightly smaller one and file the sides. Cleaning nails with the prep pad first helps them stick.

Take them off gently

Don't pry or rip press-ons off, which can peel the natural nail. Soak fingertips in warm, soapy water with a little oil until they loosen. For kids, sticky-tab press-ons are the easiest and gentlest.
