LootList is a small, independent site. Here's how we choose what to recommend, where the information comes from, and how the site makes money.
Where the picks come from
- Finders and gift guides. Each section starts with what matters most for that kind of product, like the age on the box for toys, what works with your console for gaming gear, or skin type for beauty. Then we choose well-reviewed products at a few price levels, so you can step a pick up or down.
- Review pages. We read the latest roundups and full reviews from independent experts who test products hands-on, such as Tom's Guide, TechGearLab, Reviewed, America's Test Kitchen and PC Gamer. A product makes a review page only when at least two different sources recommend it.
What we don't do
- We didn't test these products ourselves. When a page sums up other people's tests, it says so, and every review page links to its sources so you can read them yourself.
- We write every summary in our own words. We don't copy Amazon reviews or star ratings.
- No brand pays to be included or to rank higher.
Safety rules we follow
- Toys and LEGO: we follow the age on the maker's label and keep small-parts warnings (pieces a young child could choke on).
- Fidgets: we don't list loose magnet sets or water beads, because both can cause serious harm if swallowed. Fidgets are tools, not a medical treatment.
- Beauty: we mark products that need a shade match, and we note safety steps for gel nails.
- Books: we describe each book in our own words with no spoilers, and we flag books with explicit content.
Prices and pictures
Prices are typical ranges from recent listings, not live prices, so always check the listing before you buy. Product pictures are simple drawings of each kind of product, not photos of the exact item.
How often we check
We recheck the picks every month and swap in better options when they come along. Each review page shows the date it was last reviewed at the top.
How LootList makes money
When you buy through our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's what keeps the site free, and it never changes what we recommend. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
