The best blenders, in plain English

A good blender makes smooth smoothies, frozen drinks and soups. We read hands-on tests and boiled them down: which blenders are worth the money, and which cheap ones hold up.

Before you buy: 3 quick checks

Think about what you'll blend most.

Full-size or personal?

Personal blenders make one drink right in a to-go cup and are easy to clean. Full-size blenders handle families, soups and nut butter.

Power matters for tough jobs

Frozen fruit, ice and nut butter need a strong motor. Budget blenders handle smoothies fine but may leave nut butter gritty.

Measure your cabinets

Tall blenders may not fit under kitchen cabinets, which are usually about 18 inches above the counter. Check the height before you buy.
