The best beard trimmers, in plain English

Before you buy: 3 quick checks

Your beard length decides what you need.

Match the beard length

For stubble and short beards, a OneBlade-style tool is simple and quick. For medium or long beards, get a trimmer kit with guards (the plastic combs that set the length) that go up to at least 10mm.

Start long

Always start with a longer guard and work down. You can trim more, but you can't put hair back.

Keep it clean

Brush out hair after each use and rinse it if it's washable. A few drops of oil now and then keeps the blades sharp.
