Before you buy: 3 quick checks

The features that actually change how games look.

HDMI 2.1 and 120 Hz

PS5 and Xbox Series X can run some games at 4K and 120 frames per second (very smooth motion), but only on a TV with HDMI 2.1 ports and a 120 Hz screen. Count the HDMI 2.1 ports if you'll connect more than one console.

VRR and game mode

VRR (variable refresh rate) stops tearing and stutter when a game's speed changes. ALLM (auto low latency mode) switches the TV into game mode on its own, so button presses show up faster.

OLED or Mini-LED

OLED TVs have perfect blacks and very fast motion, which is great in dim rooms. Mini-LED TVs get much brighter, which helps in sunny rooms. Either works well for gaming.

The 3 best gaming TVs, explained

Best overall first. Prices are typical ranges, not live prices, so check Amazon for today's price.

#1Best for most gamers

Samsung S90F OLED

  • OLED
  • 42 to 83 inches
  • 4K 120 Hz (up to 144), four HDMI 2.1

$900–$3,000typical price

A great picture with every gaming feature. Tom's Guide names it the best TV for gaming, and BGR includes it among the best gaming TVs of 2026.

Price depends on size. The 42-, 48- and 83-inch models use a different OLED panel and are a bit less bright.

What testers liked

  • Excellent contrast and color.
  • Strong gaming features, including four HDMI 2.1 ports and a game hub.
  • Supports FreeSync and G-Sync (smoother play for PC gamers too).
  • Looks good from the side, with a thin design.

Common complaints

  • So-so built-in speakers.
  • No Dolby Vision (a popular HDR movie format).

Skip it if: The TV goes in a very bright, sunny room. A brighter Mini-LED TV may be easier to see.

#2Best value OLED

LG B6 or B5 OLED

  • OLED
  • 48 to 83 inches
  • 4K 120 Hz, four HDMI 2.1, VRR

$700–$2,000typical price

An OLED with all the gaming ports, for less. Tom's Guide names the B6 the best TV for most people, and BGR picks the B5 as a strong-value gaming TV.

The B6 is the newer model. Last year's B5 is often cheaper and still has the same gaming features.

What testers liked

  • Strong value for an OLED.
  • Four HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR and a game dashboard.
  • Vivid, accurate colors.
  • Thin design.

Common complaints

  • Not as bright as pricier TVs.
  • Weak speakers and a flimsy stand.
  • AI features that don't add much.

Skip it if: Brightness matters most. A pricier OLED or a Mini-LED TV gets brighter.

#3Best splurge

Samsung S95H (or S95F) OLED

  • OLED, anti-glare
  • 55 to 83 inches
  • 4K up to 165 Hz, game mode

$2,000–$5,300typical price

Samsung's best OLED, with an anti-glare screen. RTINGS calls the S95H the best gaming TV it has tested overall, and BGR picks last year's S95F among the best gaming TVs.

The S95H is the 2026 model. Last year's S95F is often discounted.

What testers liked

  • RTINGS' top-rated gaming TV.
  • An anti-glare coating that helps in bright rooms.
  • Very low input lag (delay), with a dedicated game mode.

Common complaints

  • Very expensive.
  • The biggest 83-inch size uses a different panel.

Skip it if: The budget is under $2,000. The Samsung S90F (#1) has nearly the same gaming features.
